Sustaining ourselves

"You are my Son, the Beloved, in you I am well pleased."  These were words not only for Jesus as he embarked on his earthly ministry, but also for us today.  These words say a huge amount about Jesus' sense of identity; they speak into the security that enabled him to act so courageously in the face of adversity and opposition; they also speak into how he derived his sense of significance.  Bishop Richard says: "If we Christians are to be people who don't just do different things, but do things differently, then a radical re-think of our identity, security and significance has to be at the heart of that."  Words spoken over us really matter.

Perhaps we need to discover afresh that we are children of the King of creation, so that we can be faithful to our adopted calling.
