Learning discernment

21 Oct 2021 • From Bishop Richard Jackson

In this week's video, Bishop Richard explains that the spiritual gift of discernment is particularly necessary in our current climate where conspiracy theories abound, and where scientific evidence and those in leadership and authority are readily distrusted.

Bishop Richard says: '[The Apostle] Paul prayed for the Philippians that their "love would abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that they might be able to discern what is best.”  Discernment is about seeing beneath that which presents.  It's not just about making right judgements so we act wisely, it's also about really listening to try to understand people’s deeper motivation.'

'Discernment is about the head and the heart.  In these times, may God grant us the wisdom we need to choose wisely.'
