Responding to IICSA

8 Oct 2020 • From Bishop Richard Jackson

In this week's video, Bishop Richard responds to the overarching investigation report published on 6 October by the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) into the Church of England and the Church in Wales.

Bishop Richard also issued a statement supporting the recommendations of the report in which he said: "I am deeply sorry that today, once again survivors are painfully reminded of the abuse they have suffered."  For the national Church response, see the open letter by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York.

If you or anyone you know has been affected by abuse in any of our churches, please contact our Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser.  The Church of England also provides an independent free support service called Safe Spaces.
