Deliver us from evil

9 Mar 2023 • From Bishop Richard Jackson

As he explores the next line in the Lord's Prayer this week, Bishop Richard asks how is it that 'normal, mild-mannered people' can get drawn in to committing terrible deeds?  He quotes Lord Acton; "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power to corrupt absolutely."

'Jesus chose the costly way of love and self sacrifice.  It is love that ultimately overcomes evil.  This prayer asks that God would help us not to give as good as we get.... We are delivered from evil when we walk the way of love in our everyday lives, as well as on the global stage.'
